When I look at the actions of some officials in the Ministry of Finance, I am reminded of an old saying: “Do not approach a bull from the front, a horse from behind and an idiot not at all”. For one and a half years, the ministry has toiled to elaborate a clause on tax evasion and cannot seem to make it work for the life of it – writes the President of Employers of Poland Andrzej Malinowski in “Rzeczpospolita”.
According to him, the Ministry of Finance is still convinced that entrepreneurs are dishonest swindlers who only want to trick the state by evading taxes. Such an attitude has caused a significant drop in PO’s ratings among entrepreneurs.
– Of course officials know better than entrepreneurs, tax experts, the ministries of economy and treasury; the Government Legislation Centre and the Legislation Council by the PM, know better than PM Kopacz herself how to implement the recommendation of the European Commission with regards to tax evasion in Polish law – president Malinowski remarks sarcastically.
He also underlines that the Ministry of Finance is fighting by tooth and nail not to introduce the principle of resolving interpretative ambiguities in favour of the taxpayer.
– Will minister Szczurek kindly move on from his post and take his „distinguished experts” with him? – he asks as a conclusion.
