The presidential draft of an act in support of innovation is stuck in Sejm. In March President Komorowski presented a draft supporting new technologies by means of a.o. tax exemptions. Sejm established a special subcommittee which is to work on it. However, work has not started yet. Mostly likely due to fears over potential losses for the budget caused by the aforementioned exemptions.
There is little time left to pass the draft. – It would be a pity to let so much effort go to waste, particularly as the innovation potential of Polish economy needs support. Even if the budget were to suffer short-term losses as a result, long-term the companies established by venture capital funds supported by the exemptions will create significant tax money – assesses Mariusz Korzeb, tax adviser and expert of Employers of Poland.
