“Puls Biznesu”: The project of the Ministry of Justice dangerous for business


Enabling the state to confiscate companies’ assets may lead to abuses and witch hunts  — experts warn.


Entrepreneurs are very concerned with the draft of changes in the Penal Code and some other acts. Zbigniew Ziobro’s ministry believes that the introduction of regulations enabling the confiscation of illegally acquired assets is necessary.


— Illegally acquired assets surely should be taken away, but this draft is tough to accept. The prosecutor’s office may make a mistake in confiscating assets. It happens to make mistakes very frequently and blocking a company’s assets may destroy it. Owners would lose companies when the director commits a crime? This is unacceptable. Group responsibility cannot be applied in a civilized country — says Andrzej Malinowski, President of Employers of Poland.
