A draft agreement between the unions and the management of JSW was initialled on Friday and sent for approval to the supervisory board. The unions still demand the resignation of the president Jaroslaw Zagórowski. The miners are going back to work.
Parties reached a compromise on most issues e.g. according to the protocol half of the fourteenth salary will depend on the financial situation of the company. Fourteenth salary for the previous year is to be paid in two instalments. Another key issue, which is extending the working week from five to six days – while maintaining a five-day week for each of the miners, is to be agreed in detail later.
The mediator – former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour, Longin Komołowski – said that the draft agreed on in all-night talks could, if signed, constitute an agreement between the parties. – Unfortunately, there is still a personal postulate, which I, as a mediator, am not able to fulfil – he noted.
