About one million Poles work without contracts. However, over half of them do not complain about their work conditions and wages. Some have higher education and high qualifications, so why did they get stuck on the grey side of the market?
The grey market is not restricted to the unemployed who claim benefits at the same time. In fact they only constitute 2 percent of the grey market. Working there is not always an exile and a failure. As much as 60 percent of those working without contracts are satisfied. – These are mostly people with little education who do not know their rights and see no possibility of changing their solutions – says Łukasz Kozłowski of Employers of Poland. On the grey market, there are four times as many people with secondary school education or lower that as there are people with university education.
