On Tuesday, 30th November 2010, at the “Bajka” Theatre in Warsaw, the Employers of the Republic of Poland celebrated the 21st birthday. During the ceremony, "The Confederate Awards" and "The Confederate-Friend of an Employer Awards" were presented. Except executives, some distinguished personalities from the world of science, education, culture and politics took part in the celebration.


"The Confederate Awards" were won by:

  • Czesław Piela, the Chairman of the Board of PKS Rzeszów S.A. (Rzeszów Motor Transport Company Plc)
  • Wojciech Słowikowski, the owner of Economic Counselling Services
  • Andrzej Wypych, the member of the Board , Director of Personnel of ArcelorMittel Poland (ArcelorMittel Poland Plc - the largest steel producer in Poland)
  • Marek Radecki, the CEO of ARCO (Manufacturing and Trading and Service Company)
  • Jerzy Gotowski, the owner of TRANSAND (Transport and Construction Company)
  • Mieczysław Stefan Ostojski, the Managing Director of Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, National Research Institute
  • Sławomir Jacek Koczywąs, the member of the Board for Human Resources of RWE Poland S.A. (RWE Poland Plc - one of the leading supplier of electricity)
  • Waldemar Książczak, the owner of DB (Business Counselling Services)
  • Ryszard Najda, the Chairman of the Board of NATEX (a multi-business enterprise)
  • Wiesław Olszański, the Chairman of the Board of Powiatowe Centum Usługowe Sp. z o.o., NZOZ ,,Szpital na Wyspie” (District Service Centre Ltd, Non Public Health and Care Institution “Hospital on an Island”) in Żary.
  • Piotr Terlecki, the owner of DB (Piotr Terlecki Business Counselling Services)
  • Wojciech Włodarczyk, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Lubelski Związek Pracodawców (Employers Union of Lublin)

The laureates of this year's “The Confederate-Friend of an Employer Award”, a special distinction granted for any activity contributing to the development and integration of the environment of Polish entrepreneurs, are as follows:


In the category of Media:

  • Dominika Sikora-Malicka, the editor of "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna" ("Legal Newspaper"), Wydawnictwo INFOR Biznes Sp.z o.o. (Publishing House -INFOR Biznes Ltd)

She won the award for her journalistic professionalism, interesting commentary, apt remarks and comments on matters and events related to health care. She was also presented the award for her reliable presentation on the healthcare market economy from the standpoint of its employers.



In the category of State Offices and Institutions:

  • Mikołaj Budzanowski, the Undersecretary of State, Ministry of the Treasury.

He won the award for a very desirable, but rarely seen in civil servants, ability to create a friendly climate of cooperation with employers. He was also presented the award for partnership and concern for solving difficult problems of the transport industry employers.


  • Beata Małecka-Libera, the Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (Parliament).

She won the award for her three remarkable talents, all combined in one person: sensitivity of a physician, professionalism and foresight policy of a manager. She was also presented the award for the promotion of health protection system solutions affecting the interests of different backgrounds and circles.


  • Franciszek Grzeskowiak, the District Labour Inspector in Zielona Góra.

He won the award for effective and model interaction with the employers of the District Labour Inspectorate. He was also presented the award for his inspiring and open attitude towards the labour environment and for his reliable treatment of partner dialogue.


  • Zygmunt Łukaszczyk, the Śląskie Province Governor.

He won the award for his outstanding mediation skills and the ability to develop compromises satisfying all parties of social dialogue. He was also presented the award for both his understanding of the employers' reasons and his openness to their arguments. Finally, he was awarded it for his concern for solving the economic problems of the Śląsk Province (Silesia).

  • Rafał Baniak, Undersecretary of State , Ministry of Economy .

He won the award for his genuine work from scratch for the development of Polish economy and entrepreneurial spirit. He was also presented the award for the search, together with the employers' circles, for the best solutions to difficult economic and social problems, and also for his reliable treatment of partner dialogue.


In category of Local Authority Governments:

  • Krzysztof Sikora, the President of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Local Government Assembly.

He won the award for his creative contribution to the development of entrepreneurship in Kujawy and Pomorze (Pomerania), and for his services to employers. He was also presented the award for his activity, extremely important for Polish economy, aimed at linking the science and education with the needs of labour market.

In the category of Trade Unions:

  • Krzysztof Bukiel, the Chairman of the National Board, Doctors' Trade Union of Poland.

He won the award for his tireless work for the development of the medical care system in Poland. He was also presented the award for his conciliation and willingness to reconcile the interests of patients, employers, employees and trade unionists of healthcare.


  • Urszula Michalska, the President of "Public Services Trade of OPZZ" (The All-Poland Alliance of Trade Unions), Federation of Trade Unions of Health and Social Care Workers - affiliated to OPZZ.

She won the award for liable and difficult, yet a creative collaboration with employers' organizations. She was also presented the award for her selfless and dedicated work for the protection of health and for seeking solutions through dialogue with social partners.


In the category of Scientific Institutions:

  • Prof.Włodzimierz Kurnik, PhD., Eng., the Rector of Warsaw University of Technology.

He won the award for his measurable success in finding solutions to stimulate the innovation of Polish economy as well as for a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the employers' circles. He was also presented the award for his wide and diverse range of scientific research and for his activities to foster and promote the commercialization of knowledge.
