The Summit, initiated and organized by Employers of Poland and the Canadian Employers Council, took place on October 9-10 in Calgary and Toronto, gathering entrepreneurs from Poland and Canada.
It was an unprecedented event, as businessmen from these countries met for the first time in 65 years.
The Business Summit was inaugurated with a round table discussion devoted to energy. Canada is a global power in this regard, which is why it is considered an excellent economic partner for Poland, which sees increasing its energetic security, diversifying energy sources and improving energetic efficiency as its main goals. What is more, the Polish Ministry of Economy rated Canada is one of the five markets with the biggest potential for Polish economy.
Participants discussed the goals of Polish energetic strategy, shale gas mining and the obstacles hindering the development of the Polish energy industry. Canadian entrepreneurs had an opportunity to learn of investment chances in Poland.
The Canada-Poland Business Summit was attended by Polish government administration from the ministries of economy, treasury and environment, as well as businessmen from Canada and Poland, representing a.o. the petrochemical and energy industries (KGHM, Tauron, Azoty Tarnów), transport and communication (PKP Cargo, Polsteam, OT Logistics), mining (Kompania Węglowa), finances and banking (Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, KDPW), as well as producers of machines and chemicals for agriculture, foodindustry , tourism, medical tourism and furniture producers.
