The limits of commercialization of public media, the importance of regional centres of Polish Television and the situation of Polish public media compared to their European counterparts – were the most important issues raised during the conference entitled "The public media in a democratic society. Europe and Poland”, which was organized by the Employers of Poland and the Association of Public Media Employers (ZPMP).
While in 2007, the revenue from the radio and television license fee amounted to almost PLN 900 million, just four years later - it only amounted to PLN 470 million. During the last few years there was a decrease of almost 50 percent. It would be difficult for each company to survive such a sudden and deep slump. The years to come also do not promise to be better. In this case, the strategy planning of individual companies, even on medium-term basis, is subject to considerable uncertainty, which significantly reduces development activities.
