Employers and employees have reached an agreement on the 12 PLN per hour minimum wage – such is the most recent achievement of the Social Dialog Council. Thursday’s plenary meeting ended with the approval of the elaborated compromise and the corrections suggested by social partners.
Thanks to earlier works, the parties managed to reach agreement a.o. on exempting provisional wages from the regulation, enabling the revalorization of contracts signed on the grounds of public procurement law and establishing the vacation legis of the regulation on the 12 PLN per hour minimum wage until January 1st 2017.
At the same time, the compromise did not occlude other far-reaching consequences of introducing a new law – as Andrzej Malinowski, President of Employers of Poland, pointed out. – The abundance of civil contracts which has now become a problem is a consequence of the way public procurements are handled, namely the application of the lowest price criterion. Therefore, I have a question, a doubt, as to whether the budget is ready to deal with a 12 PLN minimum wage – asked Andrzej Malinowski.
The session also brought the passing of another important motion – a common position of employees and employers on the problem of the steel industry, elaborated by the working team for economic policy and the labour market. – The conditions of international competition are disturbed – explained President Malinowski, who also drew attention to the EU economic policy, unfavourable for Poland, as well as aggressive and dishonest practices of non-EU steel producers.
The agreement on the minum wage is available here.
