Coal is an opportunity of which we should take advantage – Vicepresident of Employers of Poland Remigiusz Nowakowski in Krynica

– Coal does not have to be our biggest weakness. It is an opportunity of which we should take advantage. We have no other natural resource to ensure economic security, stable deliveries and energetic independence – assessed Chairman of Tauron and Vicepresident of Employers of Poland Remigiusz Nowakowski, participant in the “Long- and short-term megaprojects in energy sector planning” at the Economic Forum in Krynica.

The panel focused on the assessment of risk, costs and benefits involved in the biggest projects of the Polish energy sector.

– We are not the last Mohican when it comes to coal-based energy. If one looks at Eurostat figures for coal mining in Europe, Poland is in second place, with 16 percent of the coal mined on the continent. Despite the narrative of green investment, environmental protection and Energiewende, Germany still occupies the first position –  PGE Chairman Henryk Banaszak pointed out.
