At the opening session of the VII Healthcare Forum in Krynica, discussion focused on the organization of the healthcare system in Poland. A special guest of the panel entitled “The shape and direction of Polish healthcare systems’ development” was the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety” Vytenis Andriukaitis. Vicepresident of Employers of Poland and Chairwoman of Lux Med Anna Rulkiewicz was among the panelists. EY was a partner of the event.

Commissioner Andriukaitis identified three priorities in the field of healthcare: promotion, prevention and protection. He also emphasized the importance of R&D, as well as cooperation between international organizations.

Vicepresident of Employers of Poland Anna Rulkiewicz admitted that private healthcare is concerned with the budget system. In her opinion, the money could not be guaranteed in every case should the changes be introduced – due to a lack of sufficient funds. Rulkiewicz also emphasized the importance of increasing public expenses on healthcare to 6 percent of the GDP in 2024, as we are still a country in development and state funds are needed.
