The Ministry of Finance has consistently failed to implement their plans. The collapse of the carried out fiscal consolidation will hinder it more.
Instead of the planned 2.9 percent of the GDP, the deficit last year was 3.9 percent. The achievement of such a disappointing outcome, instead of intensifying the government’s efforts, induced the government to abandon plans to heal Polish public finances. They have assumed in this year's convergence program that the deficit will be reduced to 2.7 percent of the GDP in 2015.
The credibility of the department was undermined by unsuccessful predictions and overly optimistic assumptions. The Minister of Finance, Rostowski, promised sustainable public finances for 2015. It may turn out that at that time Poland will still be struggling with the problem of huge deficits.
