Legislation Monitoring Centre

Unifying regulations on accepting payments from patients will be beneficial for everybody

The Employers of Poland have asked the Minister of Health to specify regulations regarding additional payments for benefits from persons with health insurance.

According to Employers’ of Poland experts, the current legal situation is very unfavorable for patients. Although the law gives no reason not to grant patients access to benefits outside of the legally guaranteed healthcare system, some voivodeship NFZ divisions control patients and immediately break contracts with benefit providers who accept additional payment for their services. For this reason, it is necessary to establish regulation regarding the manner in which the patients could have access to these benefits. The current legal situation is alarming, as leaving this issue unregulated leads to benefit providers adopting different stances in an attempt not to be in conflict with the law.

President of the Employers of Poland Andrzej Malinowski has issued a letter to the Minister of Health, addressing this issue.
