During the Ball the economy award Economy Raspberries award was founded. These are awards granted by a daily newspaper “Puls Biznesu” and Employers of Poland that are the opposite of Vectors. The Economy Raspberries will be granted to persons and institutions that in the previous year had a very negative – direct or indirect – impact on the Polish economy. The awards will be granted first of all to persons and institutions that slow down Polish initiatives. We will also take a closer look at Polish managers, investors and employers that ruin the image of employers and standards of the Polish capital markets and who also break the rules of good business practices.

The Economy Raspberries will be granted in the following categories:

  • Institution – for putting obstacles in front of employers, including multiplication of bureaucratic barriers.
  • Civil servant – for ignoring the employers needs, for initiatives (including legislative obstacles) and decisions that make economic activity difficult, especially for enforcement of legal solutions that make business functioning difficult.
  • Politician – for initiatives (also legal) and decisions that make economic activities difficult and increasing the burden. Also for not fulfilling promises made to the electorate.
  • Stock broker / manager of a joint-stock company – for business decisions resulting in the weakening of a company, for infringement on good practices of capital markets, for decisions that are supposed to harm other shareholders.
  • Enterpreneur employer (not a joint –stock company) – for bad business decisions, for ruining a reputation of Polish enterpreneurs and also for non-ethical behaviour towards other businesspeople and employees.

In each category one Raspberry award will be granted. The name of the award is a reference to the American film awards which are the opposites of the Oscars. More information can be found at www.maliny.pb.pl

During the ceremony, the official inauguration of the Foundation of the 10th of April took place. It was combined with an auction in which special guests took part. The money raised during the auction will serve for education purposes of children who lost their parents who died during a public service (for instance children of soldiers, policemen, firefighters and other public administration workers).

Among those who offered their belongings for the auction were the following personages: President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, First Lady of the Republic of Poland Anna Komorowska, the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, sportsmen and women: Karolina Wozniacki, Marcin Gortat, Dariusz Michalczewski, Robert Korzeniowski and artists: Wislawa Szymborska, Urszula Dudziak and Michal Urbaniak.

Artist Wojciech Gasowski took part in the ceremony. He presented the interpretations of jazz and swing standards in the tradition of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole.

The recipients of the Vector awards in previous editions of the contest were among others: Lech Walesa, Aleksander Kwasniewski, Donald Tusk, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Waldemar Pawlak, Leszek Miller, Leszek Balcerowicz and Al Gore.
The award is considered to be very prestigious among Polish enterpreneurs. The statuette designer by Michal Kubiak depicts a person with their head up high who does not mind obstacles and turns of fate.
