Retail sales worse than expected, but on the growth path

24-01-2014

In the opinion of Łukasz Kozłowski, an expert of the Employers of Poland, an increase in retail sales by 5.8 per cent in December, year on year, bears evidence of a further strengthening of the Polish economy.

- Domestic demand is becoming one of the most important driving forces behind the GDP growth, gradually taking over that role from net exports. It is a natural sign of the economic recovery - says the expert of the Organization.

These results, however, were weaker than expected – an increase of 7 per cent per annum had been expected - Although it is a disappointment of sorts, but a consistent growth path in retail sales dynamics has been maintained - says Kozłowski.
