The current tax law does not take into account the specific nature of the banking sector

06-02-2014

- In Poland, compared with the EU countries, the share of mortgage bonds in refinancing banks is negligible. Therefore, the work undertook by the Ministry of Finance on the introduction of legal practice in this area can contribute to the attractiveness of the market in our country – says Mariusz Korzeb, an expert of the Employers of Poland.

The current tax regulations are one of the main barriers to the lack of competitiveness of long-term financing instruments. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the adverse solutions contained in the regulations.

There are divergent opinions of tax authorities related to the right to consider specific provisions (write-offs) created on the loans acquired as the tax deductible expenses, which are important issues that raise doubts of the banking sector representatives.
