– The decrease in unemployment is an optimistic sign, particularly as in this period we are usually starting to experience the negative impact of seasonal factors – Łukasz Kozlowski, expert of Employers of Poland comments on the newest GUS figures.
As announced by GUS, last month the registered unemployment rate fell to 11.3 percent. Thus, prior estimations made by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy were proven accurate.
It is worth mentioning that the annual dynamics of the decrease in unemployment is now measured at 1.7 percentage points – the highest in 70 months.
The current economic upturn, in contrast to the one observed in 2010-2011, has a decisively pro-employment character. After many years of caution, companies have started to invest in development and broaden the scope of their activities, which means that more jobs are created. This process has not been stopped neither by the uncertainty in international politics, nor by the stagnation in the eurozone. Even a decrease of many economic indicators key to Polish economy has not reflected in figures regarding the labour market. Temporary problems have not undermined the conviction that Poland is a promising market with a still significant growth potential, with uncertainty much less noticeable than a few years ago. As a consequence – despite the fact that GDP growth dynamics is still 1 percentage point lower than 3 years ago – the registered unemployment rate has fallen to the lowest level since 2009.
