Employers of Poland once again take part in a nationwide educational campaign aimed at increasing the employees' knowledge of hepatitis C and at encouraging them to perform preventive screening.
It is estimated that in Poland, approximately 730 thousand people, and in the world from 170 to 300 million, can be infected with hepatitis C (WZW of the type C, in English: HCV).
The lack of knowledge about HCV and the risks of infection as well as about the possibilities of carrying out the test, contributes to the fact that many people learn about the disease only in its advanced stage. It is only the early detection of the virus that offers a chance for effective therapy. - The educational campaign is essential to preserve the public health, and therefore as part of the action we are primarily planning to disseminate information about the disease and the way of its early detection - say the experts of the Employers of Poland.
