In Poland there is neither an internet portal nor an institution for employers responsible for monitoring the legislation process of regulations that determine the rules for business activity. At present employers  learn about changes in the law mainly from mass media or simply through the grapevine, usually with delay.



“Bloomberg Businessweek Polska”: new economic freedom is needed


The economic transformation, initiated by the Balcerowicz plan is an important – but not the only – element of changes which allowed Poland to move on to a free market. The year before that, the government led by Mieczysław Rakowski introduce the Freedom of Economic Activity Act, which is used as model to this day. The liberal changes introduced by Mieczysław Wilczek were the cause of the sudden abundance of companies in Poland – writes “Bloomberg Businessweek Polska”.


After the introduction of the Balcerowicz package, even the government itself was astonished by how entrepreneurial Poles were. The month to month increase in the number of companies totaled several tens of percent. Today, we have 3 mln one-man companies and most complain of the same: tax-related drudgery.


– In time, regulations which initially guaranteed freedom were tainted with restrictions and bureaucracy and are now obstacles for us – entrepreneurs point out, They have been talking about the need for change for several years now.
