Large Family Charter concerning large families and foster families was signed on December 22 at noon by President Bronislaw Komorowski. The new law comes into force on 1 January 2015. It is part of the government program Good atmosphere for the family.
Large Family Charter will operate at the level of local government and will be developed by adding more and more partners to the scheme: both public partners, as well as private companies, offering discounts on events, visits to museums, sports facilities, exhibitions, and public transport. The number of discounts is increasing due to the growing number of companies offering their products or services. Currently Large Family Charter partners represent a total of about 1500 offers. In places taking part in the scheme you can see a special logo with a caption: We honour the Large Family Charter here.
It is estimated that more than 3 million people are eligible for the Large Family Charter. It can be obtained free of charge: parents for an indefinite period, and children - up to 18 years of age or up to 25 years if they are still in education. Single parents, foster families (including foster carers) and foreigners holding a permit for permanent residence in Poland are eligible.
Large Family Charter is a response to the need to implement new solutions to improve the daily functioning of families with many children, as well as, promoting, especially among young people, a model of a large family. In connection with the momentous nature of the project, the Employers of Poland are actively promoting it and encouraging member companies to join the Large Family Charter scheme – which is one of the recommendations of the Good Climate for Families. For this purpose, in August Employers of Poland held a meeting with the participation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Władyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz and Undersecretary of State Mrs Małgorzata Marcińska during which member companies could get familiar with the scheme and join the discussion.
At the same time, Employers of Poland took the feature competition partner for companies Fri. Good Climate for Families, and the President Andrzej Malinowski joined in the work within the Chapter. The aim of the competition is to reward entrepreneurs who in their actions implement family-friendly solutions (including those related to the reconciliation of work and private life).
According to the expert of Employers of Poland, Marcelina Cieślak, companies that have decided to join the program gain a number of benefits. First of all, they build the image of a company based on the strategy of responsible business. This strategy, based on the aspect of family policy, is not only the success of large families, but also the companies themselves - due to the fact that cooperation on many levels translates into the benefits of more groups of stakeholders. These actions may also be an incentive to differentiate themselves in an industry and affect competitiveness.
