Legislation Monitoring Centre
In Poland there is neither an internet portal nor an institution for employers responsible for monitoring the legislation process of regulations that determine the rules for business activity. At present employers  learn about changes in the law mainly from mass media or simply through the grapevine, usually with delay.

Sick leave is a scourge in Polish enterprises

The data regarding the cost of sickness absence explicitly indicate that the abuse by employees of rights to sick leave is a serious problem. Not only do the companies lose on the fictional disease dismissals but also the entire economy, and above all, the honest workers paying contribution.

According to the analysis prepared for the Employers of Poland by Work Service, last year, Poles spent 140 million days on sick leave, and the absence from work cost Polish companies and Social Insurance Agency 18.2 billion PLN. In order to at least reduce the scale of the problem, apart from carrying out preventive care, employers should be provided with greater possibilities for control and there should be implemented the reduction of time of receiving a salary from the employer for a period of illness from 33 days to 14 days.
