Post-2015 Dialogue on Implementation:
Strengthening Capacities and Building Effective Institutions
Final high-level meeting
25-26 February 2015 in Chisinau, Moldova
Co-hosted by the Republic of Moldova, the Federal Republic of Germany, ILO and UNDP
High-level representatives from several participating countries of the Dialogue will discuss how a more inter-dependent, transformative and universally applicable development agenda will require upgraded and sophisticated institutional capacities to plan for, manage and measure their implementation.
Enhancing capacities and building more effective institutions is increasingly viewed as one of the lynchpins of achieving sustainable development. A growing body of research suggests governance processes and institutional dynamics are crucial for development. Therefore, integrating the language of institutions and their underlying capacities into a future global consensus entails better understanding how institutions mediate development outcomes through reducing vulnerability, building more resilient communities, delivering inclusive and sustainable growth and creating decent and productive jobs. It also means capacity strengthening efforts are not limited to developing skills through training and human resource programmes, but extend to transforming the overall policy, economic, regulatory, and accountability frameworks within which organizations and individuals operate. In this session, ILO and UNDP will present the main outcomes and messages from the various national consultations, as well as global events, that marked the capacities and institutions Dialogue.
