The Humboldt-Viadrina Governance Platform is inaugurating its “European Growth Initiative” program with a kick-off workshop in Berlin on May 29th. The program proposes a new way of identifying value-adding projects that will benefit the European Union in multiple ways, that is the identification of investment options for a sustainable, citizen-friendly growth that lowers unemployment, protects the environment and climate, and improves labor relations.
The “European Growth Initiative” is based on a proven concept of inclusive and participatory discussions, so-called “trialogs”. This formula seeks to establish networks between municipalities and develop models for sustainable investment projects. Municipalities from Germany, France, Poland and Greece that are active in the field of renewable energies, energy efficiency and participatory democracy will be invited.
Participants of the workshop will include representatives of local authorities, NGOs and business. The goals of the workshop are to identify the fields of interest that will lay the foundation for our project content and define the thematic scope for future workshops.
