The penultimate plenary session of the European Social and Economic Committee before the start of a new term (2015-2020) will be held in Brussels on July 1st-2nd. The discussion will focus on a summary of the Latvian presidency in the Council of the European Union and presentation of the priorities of the next presidency – that of Luxembourg. Its objectives will be presented by Nicolas Schmit, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Economy of Luxembourg.
Two important debates will also take place – one will be devoted common agricultural policy and the use of financial instruments in development programs for rural areas with Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. The other will focus on the economic, social and environmental impact of climate and energy policies, with the participation of Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete.
Opinions to be voted on apply to a.o. access to financing for SMEs in 2014-2020, capital market union, WPR reform, the Paris Protocol, the strategic framework of an energy union and energy storage as a factor in integration and energy security.
President of Employers of Poland Andrzej Malinowski will attend the session.
