In June, the index of future business situation assessment reached an all-time high, although the current business situation deteriorated as a result of a slowdown in the construction sector – such are the indications of the Entrepreneurs’ Optimism Index, elaborated on the basis of a survey conducted among members of Employers of Poland.
In June 2015, the Index assumed the value of 107.6 points with regards to current business situation, compared to 108.8 in May. The prognosis for the next six months improved from 130.3 points last month to 139.9 points in June.
June brought a moderate weakening of the assessment of the current situation, coupled with a rapid improvement in the assessment of future developments, with the latter index reaching an all-time high. As many as 60 percent of respondents indicate that their companies’ business condition will improve in the next 6 months. At the same time, the percentage of companies which experienced a drop in turnover increased to 16 percent. The decrease in the former index results mainly from a significant downturn reported in the construction sector – though it should be noted that improvement is expected.
Similarly to recent installments of the index, the greatest optimism, both in terms of the present and the future, is demonstrated by companies from the ICT sector. Transport and industry are ambiguous towards the business situation while simultaneously expecting it to improve in the next six months. Service providers and retailers are very happy with their condition as the consumption demand gradually grows. The financial sector, which recorded best results of all sectors, continues to have tougher time, although its expectations for the future remain largely optimistic. The construction sector is particularly pessimistic – moods are the lowest among the biggest companies, while smaller entities fare a little better. However, even in this group the prevalent opinion is that the difficulties are only temporary.
In relation to past editions, more small companies are optimistic, although in terms of their assessment of the future big and medium companies still lead the way.
