After being accepted by the Parliamentary Commission for EU affairs, the Council of Ministers passed the candidatures for members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the 2015-2020 term. The list of 21 Polish representatives will be sent to the Poland’s Permanent Representation by the EU. President of Employers of Poland Andrzej Malinowski and Vicepresident Janusz Pietkiewicz will continue to be members of the EESC.
The Committee is an apolitical advisory organ to the most important EU institutions: The European Commission, The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. It presents opinions on the EU legislative initiatives and prepares recommendations of their own accord. Members of the Committee (353 from 28 member states) are separated into 3 groups: representatives of employers, employees and other entities (farmer and consumer organizations, NGOs), making the Committee a link between EU institutions and civil society.
